A Campbell River neighborhood is updating a plan that will help guide future growth.
The Quinsam Heights Neighbourhood Plan will involve engagement with the public, city council, and community partners to ensure that the needs of the community are being met.
The updating process contains three phases, Background Research and Baseline, Vision, Values and Goals, and Draft and Final Plan.
Long Range Planning and Sustainability Manager for Campbell River, Jason Locke says that the plan presents a unique opportunity to address some important issues that are affecting the city.
“The number of privately owned new housing units breaking ground in Campbell River has far outpaced community growth projections in recent months,” says Locke.
“The shift in anticipated growth and the demand for housing in the city has affected affordability and availability. Infill and redevelopment of lands, through the Quinsam Heights Neighbourhood Plan, presents a unique opportunity to address the city’s housing needs and provide community amenities for the area.”
The city is hosting an open house for residents about the area’s future on January 25th at the Community Centre starting at 7 pm.
