Emergency training coming to Campbell River airport

Later in the week, residents will see an emergency training exercise at the Campbell River Airport.

As part of the exercise, a simulated emergency operation centre will be used, along with all of the protocols that would be used in a real-life situation.

The goal of this exercise is to make sure that all responding agencies including BC Ambulance, Health Emergency Management BC, RCMP, Transport Canada, and the Strathcona Regional District are prepared and coordinated in case of an emergency.

Along with emergency response vehicles and personnel being on-site, access to the exercise area will be for authorized personnel only, with the city asking residents to avoid the exercise areas while in the airport.

Regular operations at the airport will not be impacted by the training, with the exercise scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
