Firearms and property seized by Campbell River RCMP

Campbell River RCMP recently seized multiple firearms and property following a disturbance report last week.

The RCMP said that a 53-year-old man was reported to be pointing a firearm in a residence on Westmere Rd at 9 am on Wednesday.

Several officers arrived and immediately contained the area for public safety, and then were able to arrange a peaceful surrender, before executing a warrant.

Police seized shotguns, replica firearms, and ammunition, a large stash of items was also found, believed to have been obtained illegally.

A boat and engine were also found, which were stolen from Chemainus last year.

Cst. Maury Tyre of the Campbell River RCMP says they’re pleased the incident ended peacefully.

“Recovering illegal firearms and being able to return high-value stolen property, is definitely a success for our team of dedicated officers,” says Tyre.

The suspect has been released on an undertaking with protective conditions, and police are recommending charges of Pointing a Firearm and Assault.

The investigation into the recovered property is currently ongoing.
