City mulls new apartment complex across from Campbell River Common

City council is slated to approve a new four-storey apartment building across from the Campbell River Common Mall Thursday night.

The apartment is planned for the corner of Ironwood Street and 13th Avenue, across from the Mall’s main entrance. It will include 35 units in a multi-family residential development. The plans call for 12 studio units, nine one-bedroom units, and 14 two-bedroom units on three floors. Parking will be under the building on the main floor with some surface parking in the back.

The developer has held several public meetings, with attendees supporting the project as a positive addition to the neighbourhood.

Council will decide at its Thursday night meeting whether or not to approve the development. If approved, the project will include a right of way for a future bus shelter, and the developer will pledge more than $140,000 for landscaping work along the complex.
