New 35-unit, four-storey apartment approved for Ironwood Street

A new multi-family apartment building on Ironwood Street was approved this week by city council.

Councillor Ron Kerr says the development will be good for the neighbourhood.

“This is, I think, a major project on Ironwood Street. It shows a lot of confidence in our city, in particular in that area,” he says. I’ve been here 50 years and it’s good to see that corner all of a sudden shine. I’m looking forward to this project, it’s a really positive movement for that area.”

Council unanimously approved the development permit.

The four-storey apartment is planned for the corner of Ironwood and 13th Avenue, across from the main entrance to the Campbell River Common mall. It will include 35 units, including 12 studio apartments, nine one-bedroom units, and 14 two-bedroom units on three floors. Parking will be under the building on the main floor with some surface parking in the back.
