At 28.2%, the federal riding of Nanaimo-Cowichan had the highest rate of children living in poverty in 2013, according to a new report from The BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition.
The percentage was 23.4% in the riding of Vancouver Island North
The data is from before the federal riding boundaries shifted, but Provincial Coordinator Adrienne Montani says little has changed.
Montani says provincial average that year was 20.4, compared to the Canadian average of 19.
Montani says they hope candidates take a good look at the numbers, and realize how important it is to take action.
