High tides and continuing rain could cause flooding in Campbell River today and tomorrow, prompting a warning for drivers from Mainroad Contracting.
A storm surge has created elevated river levels, high tides and large waves, which could cause high ocean water levels. Flooding is anticipated along the shoreline and low-lying areas. This morning’s high tide was almost half a metre higher than predicted because of the storm.
Mainroad crews will be patrolling the highways for the next few days to make sure all drainage ditches are clear, if you see them working, please slow down and drive with caution.
Thursday’s high tide will be at around 9 am, and may bring more flooding along with pooling water.
