Avalanche Safety

Avalanches are extremely quick and unexpected. So, taking a safety course is key before heading up the mountain.
Campbell River Search and Rescue President Tim Fairbank says avalanches are more common to start on a convex slope than on a concave, and during certain weather conditions such as, fresh snow and a lot of wind.

Fairbank if you haven’t taken a course yet, in the spur of the moment, follow the path with your eyes and keep an eye out for lost mittens to narrow down the search.
