B.C. WILL CREATE 1600 ADDITIONAL POSITIONS

The province is working with B.C. Nurses’ Union to create 1600 additional regular nursing positions in less than three months.

Health Minister Terry Lake says there will be a broad variety of nursing positions available. They know they have specific shortages in specialty nursing, and some of the money will be put aside to increase training in those areas.

Lake says they are trying to move more into home and community care, and a lower reliance on the expensive acute care system.
