AdventureSmart presenter training workshop coming to Campbell River

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – AdventureSmart presenter training is coming to Campbell River.

The workshop is sponsored by the Strathcona Regional District Emergency Program. According to a release from the regional district, the goal of the workshop is to increase the number of certified volunteer AdventureSmart presenters in the region.

AdventureSmart is a program that provides safety and education throughout the community. It is a national program which was designed to reduce the frequency and severity of search and rescue incidents in various regions.

“The Campbell River Search and Rescue volunteer team is one of the best in the province,” wrote the SRD’s chair Michele Babchuk.

“However, each time they are deployed represents an incident that could have somehow been prevented. This is where AdventureSmart fits in.”

Safety and outdoor recreation enthusiasts are encouraged to volunteer and attend the workshop on Saturday May 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Campbell River Search and Rescue offices at 261 Larwood St.

Space is limited, and participants are required to register. For registration, contact AdventureSmart coordinator Alex Michaels at 250-923-2256.
