Since 2011, over 116 First Nation communities created clean energy projects with the help from the First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund.

Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation John Rustad says the province is proud of the projects so far.

Rustad says B.C. developed the fund with a revenue share component on the water and land rentals that are paid to the government to share that revenue back with the communities.

He adds other portions of that agreement come back and renew the fund.

Applications are again being accepted for funding until the end of January.

The First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund is part of the government's commitment to promote greater First Nations participation in B.C.'s clean energy sector.

So, the 'Namgis First Nation is benefiting with funding to support an equity investment in the Kokish River run-of-river hydro-electric project.

Minister of Aboriginal Relations John Rustad says they will be getting $400,000 to help them require a 25% stake in the project that's running in their area.
