Swimming across the Pacific Ocean sounds pretty crazy, right?

Well it's exactly what long distance swimmer Ben Lecomte is planning on doing.

Lecomte was in Campbell River getting set for the big trek.

Lecomte explains why exactly someone would risk their life on a big swim like that.

Lecomte's journey will cover around 55-hundred miles.

Lecomte says the support boat that will follow him on his swim was being prepped in Campbell River. He's set to start the swim, going from Tokyo to San Francisco at the end of September.
