Early warning system for earthquakes in the works

A Vancouver Island-based organization is working on developing an early warning system for earthquakes.

Ocean Networks Canada has received 5-million dollars from the province for the project.

Spokesperson Teron Moore says the funding will be used to add more sensors and enable increased analysis.

 

Moore says the goal is to provide enough warning of seismic events that steps can be taken to reduce damage and protect residents.
