Though federal politics is not top of mind for many people right now, the federal liberal party has just announced their candidate for the North Island Powell River riding who will run in the expected 2015 election.
Peter Schwarzhoff who grew up in Campbell River and has returned to the city in his retirement got the nod.
He says he has a few big priorities.
First time politician, Schwarzhoff, explains what motivated him to get involved.
Schwarzhoff says he is going to be working to fundraise and recruit volunteers over the next few months.
There is no date yet for the federal election.
