Discovery Passage closes their doors

BC has the second lowest education funding in the country right after Prince Edward Island.
And School District 72 trustees agreed that it was the small provincial budget towards education that has forced them to close Discovery Passage Elementary.
Trustee John Kerr says given the inadequate funding from the provincial government, the school is not sustainable.
He adds the school has the capacity to house 132 students, and currently there are 70 in the school, on top of Discovery Passage needing $2.3 million to be able to maintain it long term.

All trustees agreed it was a sad night for everyone, and deeply encouraged all parents to go forward with the same enthusiasm they currently did with Discovery Passage at their next school.
