Storm drop game one

The VIJHL Championship series got underway last night in Victoria and it lived up to its billing. The game was a thriller featuring incredible goaltending, some beautiful goals, end to end rushes and plenty of overtime action.

The Cougars would take game one at 14:38 of the second overtime. Nathan Looysen scored his second of the night from Dom Kolbeins and Ryan Vorster. The other Victoria marker came from Jordan Passmore.

Austin Steger and Gage Colpron scored for Campbell River.

Despite the loss, Riley Welyk played his best game of the season turning aside 52 of 55 shots and was named a game star.

For Storm Associate Coach, Mike Wilson, the difference in the game was the Victoria power play which accounted for all three of their goals….

Game two is Tuesday night at Strathcona Gardens. The puck drops at 7:30.
