BC funds series of programs in case of emergencies

The Province is funding a series of programs to better prepare residents in case of an emergency

Over 160-thousand dollars will go towards the Fire Chiefs Association of BC.

Minister of Emergency Preparedness Naomi Yamamoto says that will help the group create a database for emergency management and fire service resources.

Yamamoto says funds will also go towards the Association of Professional Engineers and Geo-scientists of BC for flood plain hazard mapping and flood assessment practices.

Monies will also go towards a joint research project between Emergency Management BC, the Global Earthquake Model Foundation and the Earth Sciences Sector of Natural Resources Canada. They will be conducting earthquake risk assessments.
