Charges were dropped on Saren Azer

The mother of four Comox Valley children abducted by their father and taken overseas says government inaction has allowed charges to be dismissed against the father.
Saren Azer was reportedly arrested by Iranian officials in June.
Alison Azer said at the time she’d learned that the RCMP were blocked from contacting Iranian officials by the federal government.
Azer’s lawyer in Iran has now told her that the charges were dropped because no one from the Government of Canada contacted Iranian officials.
An event is being planned in Courtenay on August 21st, to mark the one-year anniversary of the children’s abduction and thank the community for its ongoing support.
