One of the negotiators of the Great Bear Rainforest legacy is welcoming the international recognition the agreement is receiving.
The legacy was officially recognized as part of The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy Initiative ceremony at Buckingham Palace yesterday.
The initiative raises awareness of work being done in commonwealth countries to conserve forests for future generations.
Dallas Smith, who was one of the negotiators who worked to develop the legacy, says he was pleased to see the legacy selected for this kind of international recognition.
Smith says he hopes the work done on the Great Bear Rainforest can serve as an example both within Canada and internationally.
