Province Releases Child Poverty Report Card

The BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition is again calling for a provincial poverty reduction plan.

The organization released the 2016 BC Child Poverty Report Card this morning, and it shows there’s still a lot of work to be done to help children living in poverty in our province.

Provincial Coordinator Adrienne Montani says one focus this year is on improving supports for youth aging-out of the foster care system.

Some of the other recommendations in the report include adopting a 10-dollar-a-day child care plan, increasing the availability of affordable housing, and addressing the growing income inequality among BC families.
