Military Getting New Planes For Search and Rescue Missions

New Search and Rescue planes have been announced for the military.

The federal government has announced that Airbus has won the bid to replace the aging Buffalo search and rescue planes and also confirmed that the training centre for the new planes will be in Comox.

C.E.O of the Comox Valley Airport and former Base Commander at 19 Wing, Fred Bigelow, says the new planes will provide benefits for the search and rescue crews when they are called out to rescue people across B.C.

The military will receive 16 of the new planes, with the first ones scheduled to arrive in three years.
