Campbell River celebrates diversity

The city of Campbell River is getting ready for the Pride festivities.

The crosswalk at 10th and Shoppers Row will be painted in the colours of a rainbow by a local LGBT2Q youth group and painting crew.

The project was supported and approved by the Public Arts Committee and city of Campbell River council.

Recreation and Culture Supervisor Michelle Sirett says she’s pleased the city continues to promote diversity.

“I think it’s important that the city supports diversity. We have a diverse community, and this is just one of many groups that are in our community.”

The project is youth-driven, which Sirett notes the city is also working hard to support.
