Oyster River Fire is bringing in a backyard burning ban as of Friday, June 9th.
The ban follows a move by the Coastal Fire Centre to ban Category 2 open fires throughout the Coastal Fire Centre region.
Oyster River Deputy Fire Chief Chris Murray notes that campfires will still be allowed, as long as they are 50 centimeters or smaller.
He says fire crews are asking people to be careful if you do have a campfire, have a bucket of water near by and make sure it’s fully out before you leave it.
