Run the Spit as part of National Aboriginal Day

The annual Walk and Run The Spit is taking place as part of National Aboriginal Day.

The 5 kilometre journey takes place Wednesday morning.

Kwakiutl District Council Health spokesperson Kathleen Power says this initiative helps promote active living while celebrating the rich history of First Nations in the region.

“It’s a really great opportunity because it’s an open event,” she says.

Power says the event is also important for promoting unity within the community.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, or your ability. Anyone can come and join in. It’s a great day to bring people together.”
