New app helps police recover stolen bicycles

Cyclists are being reminded to register your bike with the 529 Garage app.

RCMP Constable Rob Gardner says there continues to be thefts of bikes in the community and the app can help get your bike back to you if it’s found.

“The best thing about 529 app is it gets all the information into the app that we need to return the bike to you if it’s been stolen.

When we recover it, the serial number is there, we have photos of it, we have photos of the owner with the bike, so it’s really instrumental in getting that information to us so that we can return the bike to you [the owner].”

Gardner says you can register your bike through the 529 Garage app or website at: project529.com/garage.
