Pedestrian fatally struck in Campbell River

RCMP and collision analysts are investigating a pedestrian fatality in Campbell River.

It happened around 9 PM on Friday, June 23rd.

Police say the 36 year old woman had tried to cross the highway between Hilchey and Westgate roads when she was hit by a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and tried to provide life-saving efforts.

The woman was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Police are reminding all road users to be aware of their surroundings and for pedestrians to make sure you use marked crosswalks when crossing the road.
