A historic local landmark was devastated by a fire overnight.
Campbell River fire crews responded to the 70 year old Quinsam Hotel to find the property completely engulfed.
Fire Chief Ian Baikie states it was a tough blaze.
“The building was so involved that we moved into what we call a defensive posture, meaning we weren’t able to go inside because it was unsafe to do so.”
“We spent five hours making sure this fire was extinguished.”
Baikie notes nobody was injured in the blaze, but the hotel sustained extensive damage.
“My experience tells me the amount of damage here would cause this building here to be a total loss.”
