Bystander assists in extinguishing residential fire

Firefighters are cautioning residents to be careful with how you dispose dangerous chemicals.

Crews responded to a small fire at a home on Alpine Road and were able to extinguish it quickly.

Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Doherty notes this a good reminder to be careful with handling and disposing of combustible materials.

“It’s important that they read the instructions on the container to make sure that they dispose of them in the appropriate containers themselves [and] keep them away from any [other] combustible materials.”

“Be very cautious of disposing rags or any kind of fabrics that may have been used with chemicals.”

Doherty says no one was injured and the garage sustained light damage.
