It was a bit of a scary situation at Discovery Harbour Marina. A fishing boat collided with the breakwater Thursday.
Luckily the ferry that runs between Campbell River and Quadra Island, The Powell River Queen, was nearby. Deborah Marshall with BC Ferries says it sent out its rescue boat after the fishing boat didn’t respond to The Powell River Queen’s warning horns.
Marshall says the fishing boat was able to get off the breakwater itself and no one had to be evacuated. She added that in any given year BC Ferries performs around 24 rescues.
