Campbell River water temporarily being treated with chlorination only

Starting Sunday water in Campbell River will go back to being disinfected with chlorine only. It’s a temporary move while ultraviolet equipment is transferred to the new water facility.

The city says during the equipment transfer extensive, regular testing will continue to make sure the water is safe for people to drink. The city’s new water system is scheduled to be up and running with both the chlorination and UV systems online next spring.

In the meantime people with compromised immune systems or who are caring for babies or seniors can take the extra precaution of boiling their water if they’re worried about the temporary change.
