Winter tire season is almost here. It kicks off on Sunday.
Drivers are required to have winter tires with tread of at least 3.5 mm on a few highways on the Island. Those include the North Island Highway and Highway 28.
Getting caught on those roads without winter tires can result in a fine of $121 or $109 if the tread isn’t deep enough. You can find more information about what roads require winter tires at this website.
