ICBC warning people of text message scam

ICBC is warning customers of a text message scam.

The agency says a number of customers have reported getting messages telling them they’re getting a refund. The message contains a link which leads to a website where people can enter their banking information.

If you get a message like this simply delete it immediately.

ICBC is stressing it does not use unsecure things like text messaging or social media to get in touch with customers. It also doesn’t issue refunds through text message, Interac, or e-tranfer. If you get a text message like this you can report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by calling 1-888-495-8501.
