A helicopter crash near Campbell River has killed one and hospitalized another.
Emergency crews, including the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, responded to reports of a downed helicopter in a heavily wooded area, north west of the Campbell River airport late yesterday afternoon.
Reports indicate the pilot and a passenger were inside the helicopter at the time of the crash.
One man was airlifted to hospital in Victoria. No update on his condition is available at this time.

The other passenger, a female, was also found and was pronounced deceased.
Campbell River RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the Transportation Safety Board have begun an investigation into the cause of the crash.
