Campbell River city council has approved Storey Creek Golf Club’s property tax exemption. Its application was passed at last week’s meeting under the annual Permissive Tax Rate Exemption Bylaw.
Last month Mayor Andy Adams had questioned granting a golf course the exemption. But city staff looked around and it turns a number of municipalities across the province do grant exemptions to not-for-profit golf courses.
Council gave the exemption, which applies to next year, to 87 organizations which will save those organizations roughly $476,000 in city taxes.
