Strathcona RD Hosting Emergency Preparedness Fair

As the cool and wet weather conditions arrive, the Strathcona Emergency District is looking to promote awareness of emergency preparedness.

A fair is being held Friday, October 20th at the Thunderbird Hall.

District Protective Services Coordinator Shaun Koopman says it’s a great opportunity for residents to take advantage of readily available resources used during emergencies.

“Often we hear from the public that they’re too busy to buy supplies and they don’t know where to come for information so we decided to open up this one-stop shop for people to come and pick up preparedness supplies from various vendors that will be on-site.”

Over 30 different organizations have been invited, including Campbell River Search and Rescue, Emergency Support Services and the RCMP.

For more information on the fair and information on emergency preparedness, Koopman encourages calling the district office or visiting their website.
