Infrastructure grant going towards sewer maintenance planning

Money from the provincial government will help Campbell River plan sewer maintenance.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s $10,000 infrastructure grant will be going towards the roughly $22,000 needed to assess the downtown sewer conditions. The last time an assessment was done was about 10 years ago.

The city says it’ll be looking for things like areas where trenchless technology can be used to install new pipe linings instead of having to dig. Trenchless technology is less expensive, takes less time and energy and is less disruptive to the public. It’ll also be looking things like spots that need flushing, root cutting, or grouting cracks.
