Council approves waterfront plan

City council has approved the Waterfront Task Force’s plan.

The proposal for the downtown Campbell River site came after six months of work including public consultations. The 3.5 acre property is at the corner of Highway 19A and Roberts Reach.

The task force’s plan includes a variety of things like a large park space as well as entertainment areas and a mixed-use building for things like an aquarium, a restaurant, and a 220-seat revenue.

The city now has to find ways to fund the project, which has a price tag of roughly $30 million. The plan was approved at Monday’s meeting.
