All time low for forestry fatalities in 2014

Things are getting safer for local forestry workers, Forest Safety Council Chief Executive Officer Reynold Hert says they are seeing positive changes.

Hert says since 2005 the number of fatalities, injuries and serious injuries in the forest has declined as the industry is increasingly on board with safety measures.

He describes some of their ongoing safety initiatives.

Hert says they are also working to get mechanized equipment working on steep slopes to keep fallers out of hazard areas.
