Blaney wants all eligible seniors automatically enrolled for Guaranteed Income Supplement

Rachel Blaney has a mixed reaction to a recent policy change by the Liberal government.

The North Island-Powell River MP and NDP Seniors Critic says it’s good the government is moving towards automatically enrolling seniors for the Guaranteed Income Supplement.

However she’s taking issue with the fact that it won’t be signing anyone up retroactively. Blaney says the problem is plenty of people don’t know about the program:

Blaney added the issue has been there is nowhere on your tax form to sign up for the GIS. She says she’ll be keeping an eye on the program going forward to make sure seniors are indeed getting signed up:

She’s also asking the government to change course on this decision and to automatically enroll all eligible seniors for the GIS.
