City hits fourth milestone in climate change action plan

Campbell River has been honoured for its efforts to fight climate change.

The city is getting national recognition from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Climate Protection Program. The program has five milestones for municipalities to hit in their efforts to reduce the effects of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.

Campbell River has hit the fourth milestone which means it’s starting to implement its plan to hit its reduction target. That target is to bring greenhouse gas emissions down 35 per cent compared to 2007 levels by 2040 through things like retrofitting municipal buildings to be more energy efficient and offering rebates for people who make their home more efficient.
