CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-B.C. Hydro says about 3900 customers were affected by a power outage in Campbell River.
It happened Wednesday evening south of St. Ann’s Road. B.C. Hydro says the power went out around 5:45pm when a piece of equipment called a switchgear unit failed.
Crews were able to isolate the problem and the power back up and running to all but 80 customers around 7:15pm. B.C. Hydro says power for those 80 customers is being supplied back backup generation. Replacement of the switchgear unit is underway and is expected to be complete in about a week.
