Council of Canadians opposed to gypsy moth spraying in Campbell River

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-A group of residents doesn’t want the BC government spraying for gypsy moths.

The Campbell River chapter of the Council of Canadians has written to the Minister of the Environment asking that the minister not approve the plan.

The Ministry of Forests is looking to spray parts of the city in the spring. The group sent its letter to city council as well.

Council agreed to get in touch with the Ministry of Forests to get clarification on the provincial gypsy moth management initiative. That includes the potential risks to human health and how the ministry determined spraying was necessary.

Council asked to have an answer by March 26th.
