BC Government calls paper tariffs “unfair”

VICTORIA,B.C.-BC’s Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology Bruce Ralston has released a statement on the anti-dumping duties imposed by the United States on Canadian mills, like Powell River’s Catalyst Paper.

Ralston said that the province is upset that the U-S government has imposed unfair tariffs on BC newsprint producers.

He noted that the provincial government will stand “shoulder to shoulder” with workers at the Powell River mill.

With preliminary countervailing duties already in place, Catalyst is facing combined duties of over 28 per cent.
