CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-An epic battle opened the VIJHL finals, but the Campbell River Storm came up just short. The Saanich Braves pulled off the victory in Game 1 last night at the Rod Brind’Amour Arena in triple overtime.
The Storm fired a barrage of shots at the Braves, outshooting them 71-48, but Saanich managed to hold them off just enough. The final score was 5-4.
It was only the second game the Storm have lost in these playoffs. Game 2 goes Friday night at the Brindy. The puck drops at 7:30pm.
