CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-BC’s Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training made a stop in Campbell River. Melanie Mark visited North Island College.
She was in town Monday to visit the school’s new trades training facilities which are in the midst of being built. Mark took a tour of the campus, meeting some of NIC’s culinary, nursing, electrical, and industrial automation students.
She also met students in a new Trades Sampler program, which in collaboration with the Campbell River School District exposes students to a broad range of trades over four months. Mark says it was exciting to be able to listen to the students talk about their futures.
The $8.56 million upgrade of NIC will give the school almost 105,000 square feet of new and renovated space for new programs and student services.
Mark says investments like that “will help educate and train a new generation of British Columbians” and that “a trades career is a great choice for anyone who wants a good-paying job while helping build the best B.C.”
