Gypsy moth spraying open house announced

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-The province has announced an open house on the planned gypsy moth spraying in Campbell River.

Members of the B.C. Gypsy Moth Technical Advisory Committee will be on hand, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, the Ministry of Agriculture, and other experts. They’ll be answering questions and providing information to residents about the spraying.

The province says gypsy moth numbers have been growing in the last two years in Campbell River and there is the possibility the problem could spread if it’s left untreated. As an “introduced pest” their caterpillars eat tree leaves and can damage forests, farms, and orchards.

The gypsy moth spraying open house is happening on April 10th from 3:30pm to 7:30pm at the Sportsplex. All are welcome to attend.  You can find more details at the government’s website.
