RCMP investigate racist graffiti and arson

An arsonist sprayed racist graffiti on the walls of a Campbell River First Nation’s office before setting a fire.

We earlier reported the fire that happened back January 13th at the Mamalilikulla-Qwe’Qwa’Sot’Em office on 16th Ave. and did about $40,000 of damage.

RCMP Staff Sergeant Troy Beauregard says investigators determined it was a set fire.

He says now there are a few parts to their investigation.

Beauregard says a hate crime is anything that is motivated towards an identifiable group.

He says they are working together with local First Nations communities as part of the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to call the Campbell River RCMP.
