FD urging people to deal with waste properly after burn complaints

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-The Campbell River Fire Department is reminding people that you can’t just burn whatever trash you want. This comes after firefighters responded to several complaints about illegal burns this weeks.

One particularly bad one happened on Quinsam Road Sunday night. A large amount of “prohibited materials” were being burned.

One witness says that these burns at this location have been going on for some time. Fire Chief Ian Baikie says doing something like that could leave your wallet lighter:

Fines for prohibited burns in Campbell River can range from $200 to $500.
