Campbell River to host Day of Mourning Ceremonies

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C- Campbell River will observe the “National Day of Mourning” on April 27th and April 28th.

The day honours the memory of workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents.

“This is an opportunity where we take time out to remember those who have lost their lives on the job,” said Worksafe BC senior manager, Trish Knight Chernecki.

“But also it reminds us of the job we have ahead to make sure that BC is occupationally very safe.”

The Day of Mourning was officially recognized by the Canadian federal government in 1990.

Ceremonies will take place in Campbell River at Spirit Square at 10:30 am on Friday April 27th, and at Frank James Park at 10:30 on Saturday, April 28th.
