Survey seeks to “get a pulse” of Campbell River

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C- The Campbell River Community Foundation’s 2018 Vital Signs survey is looking for input from local residents.

“We are trying to get a pulse of what is happening right now in Campbell River,” said Laurel Sliskovic, a survey co-ordinator from an organization called the The Sociable Scientist.

According to Sliskovic, the survey looks to find information that couldn’t be gathered in other ways.

“Things like library statistics, lots of information from school districts as well. We want to know how people are living in Campbell River.”

Sliskovic said that the questions asked in the survey are formulated to understand the local “quality of life”.

“Things like, ‘do you feel safe walking alone in your neighbourhood at night?’ ‘Do you feel socially connected to your community?’ ‘Do you say hello to strangers on the street?’” added Sliskovic, speaking with 2Day FM on Tesday.

“The sorts of questions asked in the survey will really reflect people’s day to day lives.”

The results of the survey can be used to generate discussion, focus community leadership activities, promote more evidence-based decision making and potentially inform policy change and community development.

The survey is now available online through this link:

Everyone over the age of 16 is encouraged to participate.
